Daejin Lee

Daejin Lee is one of the leading experts on global shipping and commodities. His insights and interviews have been featured live on BBC World News and CNBC, and his analysis has been cited by Reuters, The Independent and Foreign Policy.

He began his career on the dry bulk chartering desk at Hanjin Shipping, where he went on to work as an FFA trader and strategy manager. As Director of Shipping Research at S&P Global Energy in Singapore, he led the firm's core freight analytics and research — creator of the flagship Utilization Index and Freight Signal Monitor, and a lead developer of the Freight Rate Forecast (FRF) models and the Commodities at Sea (CAS) analytics platform.

He has spoken at major commodity and shipping conferences in Singapore, Copenhagen, Geneva, Tokyo, Seoul, Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Hong Kong, London and Dubai, as well as the Korea Maritime Forum at the National Assembly. He studied English literature in Seoul and London and holds a BA from Korea University.
